Developing the Next Generation of Business Leaders
The Hood River Valley High School Business Program provides business education and real-world work experiences to drive the future success of our students and turbo charge economic prosperity in the Hood River Valley, Columbia River Gorge, and beyond.
Dynamic Course Offerings
Our current program offers three business courses that meet every other day for 1 hour and 20 minutes.
Business 101
This foundational course covers the basics of business, providing students with essential knowledge about different business functions and structures.Introduction to Entrepreneurship
Thinkers and doers make up this class. Being an entrepreneur is a special opportunity to make lasting impact while creating prosperity. We cover problem identification, opportunity analysis, customer centered thinking, AI and tech platforms, growth strategies, marketplace businesses, raising capital and more.
Career & Financial Literacy
Soon to be a required class for all high school students. Financial literacy covers bank accounts, budgeting, building credit, loans, money management, auto and home buying. During career literacy we explore the many different things one can do in life- from legal and medical careers to the trades, business, engineering, first responders, creative endeavors, and much more.
Our Fly-In Job Exploration Program allows community members to "fly in" via Google Meet to tell our students about what they do and what they like and don't like about their jobs.
Guest Speaker Series
Our students treasure hearing from business professionals about their unique career story and what they're passionate about. In addition to our Fly-In Program, we host people from our community live in our classroom. Let us know if you'd be interested in joining us. Here's a sample of past guest speakers.

Matt Troskey

We'd Love Your Help
K-12 education in Oregon is underfunded.
Currently, our business program courses are electives that are funded by the Hood River Valley School District general fund at a 0.5 FTE teacher salary.
Due to declining enrollments fueled by macro trends, expiration of pandemic-era federal funds, and demands from required courses, the HRVHS Business Program needs support.
If you have the means to give, and be at ground zero to shape the next generation of business leaders, we'd be grateful for your gift.
